One day not too long ago, I brought the supply chain to an end for a
multi-billion dollar organization. I cut the RFID tag out of a pair of
new jeans.
There was no label on the tag to identify it as an RFID tag. It was not
in a readily noticeable location. But there it was, a piece of white
fabric two inches square and attached to a seam. All it had printed on
it was a dotted line and the words "Cut Here." But cut what?
As an information security and privacy professional, I understand the
implications of RFID tags for individuals and organizational supply
chains. But would a consumer unfamiliar with RFID tags really cut it
off just because it says "Cut Here?" It would be comparable to the
individual who picks up the phone because the caller ID says "Pick Up"
even though it displays an unknown
